About Analyze My Ankle
Publisher and ownership
This site has a single operator: the independent engineering team that also runs JointLens, the umbrella brand covering all of our joint-imaging tools. Analyze My Ankle is not affiliated with a hospital, a sports-medicine practice or an imaging chain, and nobody pays us to steer you toward a scan, a surgeon or a brace. Knowing who publishes a page about your ankle matters more than the design of the page, so we put it first.
Which ankle studies work here
Bring an ankle MRI, a three-view radiograph set, or a CT volume, as loose DICOM files or a ZIP straight off the clinic disc. Everything renders in the browser, with slice scrolling and windowing so you can actually look at the images instead of only reading about them. The optional AI pass then describes what the rendered slices show — the course and thickness of the anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ligaments, the appearance of the Achilles tendon over its mid-substance and insertion, fluid in the tendon sheaths, the syndesmosis at the tibiofibular clear space, marrow signal in the talar dome, and cortical breaks or periosteal reaction suggesting a fracture.
What no image can settle
Ankle instability is a clinical finding. A ligament can look thickened and scarred on a static scan while the joint stays perfectly stable, and it can look nearly normal while the joint gives way on every uneven pavement. Stress views, an anterior drawer test and a competent physical examination decide that question, not this tool. Osteochondral lesions of the talus are frequently understated on radiographs, peroneal subluxation is dynamic, and small avulsions at the fibular tip disappear in thick slices. The models also have no idea how the injury happened, which is often the most informative fact of all.
Medical safety rules we apply
A consent step sits in front of every analysis, stating plainly that the result is educational and not a diagnosis; you cannot skip past it. The same caution is repeated on every report and expanded in our Medical Disclaimer, which lists the ways a language model can be wrong about an image. An ankle you cannot stand on, an obvious deformity, numbness or a dusky foot means urgent care — close the browser and go.
File handling, stated exactly
The parsing, unzipping and rendering of your study all run as client-side code in your tab. Nothing about that step touches our infrastructure, because there is no upload endpoint for raw studies at all. If you ask for an explanation, the request carries the rendered frames you selected and your typed context, and the server treats that as a pass-through to the model providers rather than as something to file away.
